Paintings, Pottery, and Art Views
CALL FOR ARTWORK:


Original Paintings, Drawings, Sculpture, and Pottery for an Art Show in the month of May at The Warehouse Performing Arts Center in Cornelius, NC.  The Warehouse is a performance venue and literary and visual arts salon serving the Lake Norman area and dedicated to promoting emerging and established artists and writers. This call for submission is open to all residents of the U.S. and its Territories 18 years of age or older.

THEME: 

"AFRICA, an Exploration of Glass and Light"  to accompany the upcoming April show, Road to Mecca, by Athol Fugard, directed by Louise Robertson.  Use the theme "Africa, and / or Glass and / or Light" as an inspiration point for new artwork or review your current inventory to share a piece that fits within this theme.  You may also want to explore Helen Martins' artwork and sculpture.

Please bring up to 3 works to hang or display. Please complete entry form and attach labels before arriving.  Required:  Title, 1-3 sentences on why this artwork fits within the "AFRICA, an Exploration of Glass and Light" theme, pricing, and artist's name.  See entry form for more details. 

Exhibit Take-In:
Saturday, April 24th, 2010, Scheduled time is 10:00am to 12:00pm, but you must call Marla Brown at (704) 619-0429 to schedule your drop-off appointment during this open time period.  The second drop-off time is Tuesday, April 27th, 2010, from 10:00am until 12:00pm.  You may also email   info@artviewstudio.com for more questions or to request your appointment on on one of these dates.

(in-between I-77 exits 25 and 28).
Location: Northbound I-77:
Go right off of exit 25.
Take first left onto Hwy. 21.
At second stoplight, go left onto Westmoreland.
We’re first building on left.

Southbound I-77
Go left off of exit 28.
Take first right onto Hwy. 21
At first stoplight, take right onto Westmoreland.
We’re first building on left.


Sales:
All works must be for sale. The Warehouse Performing Arts Center will retain a commission of 30% from works sold. Artists receive 70%.  Please set your retail price (includes the 30% for Warehouse PAC), including sales tax. Your prices should be in line with current sales of your work. It is the artist's responsibility to collect and remit sales tax.

Size Restrictions:
All 2-D work must be no greater than 36" x 36" including frame. All 3-D work must be easily displayed in the space available. 3-D artists must bring their own freestanding displays.  Please discuss any specific requirements with Lee Ann Harrison, info@artviewstudio.com or (704) 654-2523.

FRAMING GUIDELINES:
All work must be appropriately framed and securely wired to hang. Gallery-wrapped canvases are permitted, as long as the sides are painted and it is stapled in the back. No saw tooth hangers. Please use d-rings or screw eyes.

Other Limitations:
-Work must be the artist's original creation. Work must be dry.
-The decision to reject any work will be at the sole discretion of the Warehouse Performing Arts Center. 
-All media is welcome. However, if your work cannot be hung on the wall, you must bring your own display equipment at take-in.   We will provide one area for pottery and small sculpture.
--To accept work, you MUST provide a completed and signed entry form.

Removal of Work:
Work will be on display from April 30th, 2010 through May 16th, 2010. 
Artwork must be picked up by Saturday, May 22nd, 2010, from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
All work must be removed by this time period.  No exception. 

Artist Payment:
Check Payments for sold artwork will go out on May 31st, 2010.
